The Last of Us Playthrough [part 1]

Be the Change You Want to See in the World

Part 1 of our Last of Us playthrough picks up 20 years after the terrible incidents of the prologue. You’re not the same man anymore. You’ve become much colder, more hardened and more cynical. You’ve become a survivor. You and your partner Tess work as smugglers making runs in and out of the quarantine zone. It’s a tough life and you know that someday your luck is going to run out, but not today. Today a business associate has double crossed you, Robert, a small time crook with delusions of grandeur. Not only did he steal your weapons, he ordered his men kill Tess. She barely got away alive. Together you aim to track him down and settle the score. Before the day ends you’ll find yourself with an even more important task, one that has the potential to change everything.

On your way out of the Quarantine Zone the rebel group known as the Firefly’s attacks a convoy leaving the only checkpoint out of the zone shut down. With the checkpoint closed and the entire area on lockdown you and Tess have no other choice but to travel off the beaten path. You decide to use a network of smuggler tunnels weaving in and out of the Quarantine Zone. The path is mostly secure but anything can happen in the hot zone as even still today more and more people are being infected. Along the way you come across an area infected with spores. You don your gas masks and carefully move through the area. Fresh corpses in the area are being savaged by the zombie like infected.

Old Scores Settled

You manage to catch up to Robert and his men at the old docks. What they lack in skill they make up for in numbers. But you and Tess have been doing this work for a long time and they are no match for the likes of you. By the time you reach Robert his men are all but a distant memory. He knows the score. You didn’t come to deal you came to make things right. With his empire in ruins he attempts to flee but quickly finds himself cornered in an alley. At first he refuses to tell you where the guns he stole are but after some heavy handed persuading Robert tells you he sold them to the Firefly’s.

Not willing to go along with Robert’s plan to attack the Firefly’s Tess executes him in the back alley. Moments later Marlene stumbles into the alleyway. She’s the leader of the Firefly’s and she’s badly injured. Marlene tells you she won’t just give you the weapons because she paid Robert for them. She does however tell you she’s willing to trade. Robert was supposed to do a job for her and deliver a package across town. If you agree to do it instead, she’ll give you your weapons back. Her men are too busy fighting with the security forces to get the job done and it’s time sensitive.

Ghost’s of the Past

Reluctantly you agree to help her but first you have to navigate the increased patrols and get Marlene to safety. After a few less than congenial run-ins with the local officials you reach Marlene’s stash house. As you walk in she collapses and a little girl jumps out at you wielding a switchblade. Marlene tells her to stand down and then she introduces you. This is Ellie. She is your cargo. If you want your weapons back you need to deliver her to a group of Firefly’s waiting across town at the capitol building. You don’t like it but Tess insists you need the weapons. Just seeing Ellie brings back painful memories. She’s about the same age as your daughter when she died. But you agree to take the job for Tess.

On your way out of the Quarantine zone you are grabbed by security patrol. As they scan you for infection Ellie pulls out her switchblade and stabs one of them in the knee. He’s about to shoot her when you leap up and tackle him. Tess draws down on the other officer and in the melee both of the officers are killed. In the aftermath Tess finds the scanner and notices it had alerted on Ellie, she’s infected. In a tense standoff she shows you her arm. She was bitten but it’s been three weeks and the infection hasn’t spread. She’s immune and this is why the Firefly’s are risking everything to keep her safe. With her help they plan to develop a cure and save mankind.

Last of us is the greatest console game ever! I only keep a ps4 so that I can play this game!

Agree completely, but there are a lot of great PS4 games you could be playing on that machine too :) I can't wait for Last of Us 2 though. I hope it doesn't disappoint. Naughty Dog has been crushing it lately so I doubt it!

Great post @johnquake !
Upvoted full speed. See you around and keep gaming ;).

Thanks man!

This is one of my favorite games of all time. It has a great single player and very good multiplayer mode as well. It's one of those games you can sit for hours and play and not realize that many hours have passed you by. I can't wait for the sequel and I hope it's just as good.

Me too.. just the teaser trailer they showed off with Ellie playing the guitar rocked my world!

I have full faith in naughty dog to make a rocking sequel.

Ya I have faith.. they haven't let me down yet. Probably tied for my favorite developers with Rockstar. Arkane Studios is climbing that list now too.

Rockstar is my number 1 and read dead 2 is another game I can't wait for . That with Last of Us should make for some great gaming.

Ya next year is shaping up to be great.. don't forget Days Gone, Spiderman, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus remake... and Far Cry 5 that looks like it'll be some crazy fun... I just picture a whole game full of Trevor's from GTA 5!

is there any way to get this game free

Not that I know of but maybe? I don't follow the emulator news but if they have PS3 Emulators than you should be able to find it.

Nice information.

wonderfull game. Nice video

My all time favorite for sure. I hadn't played it in quite awhile and it's still so good. Not sure any game has matched it still in terms of story, characters, and emotion combined with great gameplay. It's 100% the full package. Horizon Zero Dawn is a newer game hats great but the characters are kind of crappy and the story is lost with all the open world stuff but the backstory of the AI Armageddon is fascinating. That should have been an even better game with that storyline.. feels like a fumble.

i wanna play this. is this paid?

Ya but it's a few years old so you can get it cheap.. Playstation exclusive though for PS3 or PS4.
