We now have an in-game countdown to Fortnite season 5 that's talking hours not days! Epic has been tweeting a teasing countdown for the last three days with tweets of a Japanese Kitsune mask, a very viking looking axe and today... just a promise:
In-game the countdown to Fortnite season 5 is pointing to a 8am BST/12am ET season 4 end. That doesn't necessarily mean that's when Fortnite season 5 will start though. Previously season changes have seen the servers go offline for several hours and it's unlikely well actually see season 5 until 6 or 7 hours later.
All of the previous tweets, including an in-game news notification, suggest that we are going to see different time zones and periods of history collide. The last tweet on the official Fortnite Twitter account features a Norse-themed axe, which is the exact same shape as Kratos' Leviathan axe in God of War, you know that massive PS4 exclusive.
The first Fortnite season 5 Twitter teaser featured one of the now almost infamous Fortnite rifts in front of what looks to be a Japanese kitsune mask, in more of a cat-like shape than its traditional fox. It's a huge symbol from ancient Japanese folklore, which only serves to reinforce that time travelling theme.
According to the in-game news notification, it looks like the theme is going to centre around the phrase "worlds collide", which we still believe will be tied to the idea of time travelling.
Since the rocket launched on June 30, the Fortnite map is changing every day, with portals appearing, eating things, and then disappearing, and now random objects entering the map, including a stagecoach and a wooden anchor. It's looking more and more likely that the rumours of a time-travelling theme for Fortnite season 5 are true, and with the new season starting next week it's all about to kick off.
