Nvidia's RTX graphics cards are probably the best and most powerful consumer GPUs that have ever been created, but the question is, should you buy one?
While they are really powerful, the jump from the previous generation isn't that big. In fact, it is so small that even the 2nd most expensive one (the RTX 2080) isn't much more powerful than a regular GTX 1080 Ti and this is a huge disappointment.
The only advantage is that it has a separate chip for ray tracing allowing for ray tracing in real time, but that doesn't necessarily make it better.
The Prices
The prices aren't that good either. The new GPUs are on average 30% more expensive than the previous series even though they can't do much more than the old ones.
Conclusion
Because of that, i would say hold off for now if you own a GTX 1070 or better, but consider upgrading if you have an older graphics card, are desperate for real-time ray tracing or just have a lot of spare money lying around.
