SNES Classic - Resurgence of the standalone RPG?

in gaming •  7 years ago

With news breaking about the release of the SNES Classic, do we have a chance to see classic stand alone RPG's make a comeback?

As much as the MMORPG world has taken over, who doesn't miss where it all began? A finite game that can be rented, bought and played only to beat or truly mastered? Now THAT my friends is an RPG.

Checking out the epic lineup of games to be included it is hard not to feel nostalgic, warm and fuzzy inside, about playing and paying respects to those games. Games where so many hours, and large portion of childhood was well spent grinding away.

To be honest: Between, Final Fantasy III, Breath of Fire, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound and my personal favorite Chrono Trigger (although not included )... How does one not recall how it felt to obtain Lavos? Beat Kefka? Wonder who Mallow is?

Supply and demand conversation aside, I hope I can obtain one of these, or dust off my old SNES and games to re-live an amazing part of my past and hopefully share with the generations of the future.

Correction: "Obtain Magus" from Chrono Trigger. That was a test for the real fans. LOL
