I can agree with you there, except I'd like the prices for ssds to go down a bit more than they already have.

I've recently got a few 256gb ssds though after using both a 1 tb and 3 tb drive for a few years and they've made a pretty big difference. I was wanting to upgrade those two so I could move what I needed on to the new drives and use those either for other desktops as I need them or for NAS.

I wouldn't recommend them if you want top performance, but if you want cheap they are good.

For my NAS they only act as Raid1 boot disk and a few VMs, it's mostly the 15 SAS drives. I personally wouldn't use them in a workstation or game machine unless I was on a budget.
