Why MMG is Allowing - SBD & USD Payouts For MMG EVENTS

Traditionally MMG has offered USD payouts for our events. However, since joining the Steemit community MMG has realized the power behind Steemit, the Block-chain, and cryptocurrencies, so -- that we are unanimous in agreement that this technology will be the bricks that pave the way for the future of the gaming industry.

The Monetization of Gaming & Cryptocurrencies
More than ever, game developers are looking for ways to monetize their games for themselves and for the fans of their work. For many devs, cryptocurrency looks to be the answer. With the ability to monetize certain new coins or make a token of your own with currency such as Waves; we're just beginning to see the dawn of a new era in internet technology. As a small but well known operation after only a year in our industry, MMG will continue to stay at the cusps of technology that will inevitably allow for millions potentially billions of gamers to make a career or passive income from gaming.

For these reasons, we have decided a trial period of allowing SBD and USD pay-outs at MMG. It is our hopes that by allowing both options as payouts, we will encourage more members from our communities to join Steemit. At our last event, before ending stream when we had about 6 people left, we had a discussion about Steemit. That discussion resulted in 2 new sign-ups that night! I could only imagine the impact if done when our stream is at 35-50 concurrent viewers(which is typically every Sunday, and 8-15 concurrent on Wendesday's for 2-3hr blocks).

But Why?

Once a month we hold a $3 entry online tournament, which is a big deal to some because they don't know how to make money (young) and to spend $3 online is iffy to them. This is an issue with the entire competitive gaming community. TO's (tournament operaters) spend lots of time organizing events whether it's online or at a physical location. There's no way around the hours of labor that go into putting on a well-run event, not to mention, having it look nice and be entertaining. It's work, but to many gaming fans it's still too much. This is why devs are looking to monetize their games via cryptocurrencies.

Fans are becoming tired of in-game purchases, 2nd and 3rd releases of the same game, NOT GETTING PAID FOR 100 HRS AT THE HARDEST DIFFICULTY, and streaming all of these games to barely even scratch the surface. I mean, don't even get me started don Twitch right now, because I've already got a blog preped for them, but man...distribute the wealth...when it's earned. That's what we want to do, and by allowing gamers to sign-up for our paid events using SBD or USD, and offering pay-outs in the same manner, we look to do just that. We are the future of competitive online gaming.
