Gaming Retrospective - Fire Warrior

in gaming •  8 years ago

Fire Warrior is one of the first FPS games set in Warhammer 40.000 universe and amazingly it is not about Space Marines. Game was released in 2003 and was developed by Kuju Entertainment. In this game we play as a member of fire caste warrior from technologically advanced alien race called Tau. Game takes course in 24h time frame where our hero Shas'la Kais will have to defend against Imperial Guard Storm Troopers and later on against forces of Chaos.

Unlike many FPS games that use bullets, in this game Tau weaponry is primarily energy based. Weapons like plasma rifle, plasma grenades are very common in Tau arsenal. In this game however, we can also use dropped enemy weapons like boltguns and lasrifles and we can only use two weapon at once, so some strategy was needed on what gun to take. Tau is one of the more interesting races out there in Warhammer40k universe. Everything will feel familiar to anyone who played Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. In this game you can fight many of the tabletop models like Chaos Dreadnoughts, Obliterators and similar units. Even though Fire Warrior was a console port, game had it's moments if you're a fan of brutal Warhammer40k universe.
