God of War Preview - With an old acquaintance in the form of Kratos

Two years ago God of War was announced during the E3. It was an impressive setting, in which an orchestra preceded the musical accompaniment in advance of the unveiling. It also took a while before the hall had what they had to deal with. But when the penny fell, there was a lot of enthusiasm. That was however almost two years ago. Fortunately, the game finally comes out this year. A game that on the one hand focuses on the action of the previous games, but at the same time also makes many changes.

God of War was always an action game where you saw Kratos from a distance and he got lost in the Greek mythological world. But this new game brings you in a Norwegian setting with a camera angle that is much closer. This has made the impact of the combat a lot bigger and more impressive. It also fits better with the modern gaming experience of 2018.

Besides the setting and the other camera angle, there is still a big difference. Kratos is no longer alone. He has a son named Atreus, whom he has to assist and teach him to stand on his own feet. God of War on PlayStation 4 also gets an RPG system, where you can use points to improve certain skills in the game. In addition, Kratos mainly fights with an ax, which you can also throw at enemies to finish them that way. In the game you are dealing with common enemies, but there are also a lot of enemies who act as true boss battles.

So far, all God of War games have been worthwhile. A new part in the series is therefore only good news. In addition, it's cool to see that the developer has the courage to give the game a small reboot. It is still God of War, but very different.

The previous God of War games were clear. Kratos was angry and everyone must die. The introduction of his son can provide depth, but can also become annoying if you have missions where you have to protect him.
