For the latest Season, they waited for a week before its launch to announce some details which is interesting as it could be a signal of the growing number of players coming back to the game. Given the great accolades Bungie has gotten with the new generation console versions of the game, many like me have found a reason to continue playing. However, the continued need for content continues to be a battleground between players and the developers.
However, I am looking forward to a new three month cycle of content which seems to have some new things in addition to some returning things which I am excited for considering how much I had missed last year. A new PvE activity called Battlegrounds seems to be the highlight for the new Season of the Chosen led by a new story with the Cabal enemies returning after some time being gone and in the background.
Among the returning things, it seems like the old tower or parts of it will be back as a new social space called the HELM. Always interesting to see how Bungie does this as it seems that many of these social spaces do not last very long but I hope for the better (thinking about the Farm from year one). Also coming back, as promised, will be the two Destiny 1 strikes from the Cosmodrome location. Lastly, Guardian Games will be a returning event at the end of the Season which is great as I complete missed the first iteration of it last year.
Destiny 2 continues to develop and bring content while the community debates the good and bad. I continue to enjoy it and the new console power seems to have given it some leg room to impress players like me. With other exciting plans in the future like the return of the Vault of Glass Raid, it is a good time to be in the Destiny 2 universe.
