A New Game Meant to Work off the Steemit Blockchain WIP

in gaming •  7 years ago  (edited)

For the past few weeks, my father @jonny-clearwater and I have been working on a 2d shoot-em-up, for a steem blockchain integrated arcade.

Gameplay

The game acts as a relatively simple 2d top-down scrolling shooter, in which the player takes control of a caveman running through a prehistoric environment while throwing rocks at a variety of dinosaurs. With each loop of the scene, the caveman begins to run faster, and the enemies grow stronger. The point of the game is to collect power-ups and accumulate as great a score as you can.

Development

I am the sole programmer on the team, developing the game on the Unity engine with the C# language. My father, @jonny-clearwater, is the designer. We are also working with a few artists, including @arepazo and @eqko.

Development of the standalone game is near completion, with most of future development focusing on adding in the UI and custom fonts. After that, all of the development will be centered on incorporating this, and many other arcade-like games, into the Steem Blockchain.

How Will This Game Use the Steemit Blockchain
We're currently working on this game to test the creation of an online arcade we've built, hosting many small games with their code and data stored throughout the blockchain. Players will be able to purchase game credits using steem/SBD, with a chance to win weekly prizes for top ranking scores. I am so very excited to soon be able to present all of this to you, Steemians.

Go on
, knowledge is power

Gaming on the blockchain is a cool idea.

Very interesting game! The pixel art is a great choice for the design given that it is a 2D game.

I wish I had the skills to be capable of developing a game.

Best of luck!

Good job being a young steemian, you will be the richest kid in your school!

Keep working hard and don't stop using steem until you pass out at the keyboard! We wan't see see posts that just look like yigijjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjji

Do you plan on making this game open source? :)

The idea of arcade games incorporated on the blockchain is actually quite intriguing! I'm looking forward to the final product (and maybe to hit the top scores)

Absolutely brilliant. A true genius at work!

Thx for the mention buddy :) Hope to be able to see this in action soon.

For the next time use utopian.io, it will grand you some additional and bigger upvotes.

Very very cool!!!! Amazing that you're building this at your age!!! I love games - and really looking forward to giving your game a try!!!

Please do let me know as soon as it's ready to try out! :)

"at your age"
😭

sad???

Yeah, young people are always underestimated due to their age and it's sad.

I need this game in my life!

This is great I can't wait to play it! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open, I like to play arcade style games and a chance to win makes it even sweeter!

Always like supporting young people who are on steem/ Imagine if you keep using steem for 10 years, and before you are even 30 you could have multiple streams of passive income to take care of you and 5 other people :D

I have to really pay attention to guys like you... I need to learn a lot with my pre'wouth...

You have a great Dad! Grab him... with all you got... it's going to be something short... But I hope not... Awesome!

Can you follow me, thank you!

I am not really big on playing games. I am too busy curating posts like yours right now for instance. I am upvoting you because you are bringing something to the STEEM platform as well as presenting a good quality post.

It ain't much monetarily (my upvote), but you have my thanks for producing quality content.

Have a great day, every day! Blessings and groovy vibes are my wishes for you and yours.

Eyyy great stuff, expecting to see a game trailer soon!
Also, glad to see some art from Eqko as well! Sweet!

I am a huge fan of your father and now you. Like always wonderful post. I would be glad if you success.wish you all the best

As the owner of https://RetroGame.Club I am very excited to hear of a prospect of a blockchain powered arcade with high score rewards on the blockchain, that would be AWESOME. If only we could obtain the rights to use official roms, or buy the commercial license for a pandora's box type of setup or something, that would be so awesome to compete for high scores online on the blockchain.

My mind always goes straight to "how can we get this on RaspberryPi" haha since it's such a ubiquitous hardware board in the retro gaming community. Below are some of my Raspberry Pi consoles. Powered by RetroEvolved, a customized and pre-configured distribution of RetroPie with arcade bezels, shaders and more preinstalled.

I dabble in visual novel game development but I could never have the patience to design an arcade game so props to you guys!

Awesome to see more games being done based on the blockchain and Unity is pretty nifty to learn and use. I prefer Unreal Engine but have used both, a little bit anyway.

Looks very interesting! I like it!
