Hello dear steemians, today i want to talk about video games.
Approximately there are 1.28 billion people in the world who play video games. we spend hours and hours to play lol, dota and any other games. We use our precious time to be a part of virtual world, sometimes when i think about this i feel regret inside, cause time is limited, it flies and never comes back, so we have to use every minute rationally, but if we look the second side of coin playing video games may be good for your health.
In controlled tests, folks who played first person shooters showed “faster and more accurate attention allocation, higher spatial resolution in visual processing, and enhanced mental rotation abilities.” Apparently, the improvement in spacial skills that gamers develop are comparable to those developed in formal courses designed to teach the same skills''
Video games help kids to maintain their inner world and develops their fantasy and imagination which finally helps them to be more creative and original.

''Stress-relief is one therapeutic quality of video games, but they can do more. Dr. Pamela Kato, professor at Coventry University in England, has devoted her work to the study and development of serious games (which are intended to serve more than entertainment value). As founder of nonprofit HopeLab, she’s conducted randomized trials which concluded that children with cancer who played their video game called Re-Mission, were more likely to adhere to their chemotherapy and treatment regimens, because the game explained how they worked in ways children could relate to, with cartoony characters and weapons. As they controlled a nanobot that warded off cellular sickness with a radiation gun, they realized the value of their treatments—and thus, their behavior in the real world improved significantly.
To engage an older crowd, there’s the game That Dragon, Cancer by Numinous Games, which poetically and dramatically brings players on a narrative journey of a family coping with their child’s terminal cancer. While not as fun as Re-Mission, it’s engaging as a serious game by being strongly immersive through its story.

Thank you for writing this thought-provoking post. I agree -- and not only because I am biased as a lifelong gamer! There are numerous groups and individuals pursuing research into the very physiological and psychological mechanisms within gamification for therapy, cognitive exercise, and stress-relief. Sure, there is also a lot of dead-ends in the literature but I see several pockets of potential. Gamification researcher Jane McGonigal immediately comes to mind.
