Slack has served us well. We’ve used Slack from when Hash Rush was just an idea to where it is now: an ambitious and successful crypto-gaming project with its ICO underway. But today we have to say goodbye to slack; the Hash Rush project is moving to Discord.
The issue with Slack
The closer we came to 20 September (our ICO date), the more scam messages we received on our Slack channel. Perhaps the height of all this scam-activity was when we saw a new member on our Slack group with the exact same name and profile picture as one of the Hash Rush team members.

Aside from simply being super annoying, these Slack scammers have resulted into people in other crypto communities losing money, and we wanted to make sure this doesn’t happen on Hash Rush. At the same time, we still wanted to the Hash Rush community and answer any questions about Hash Rush.
Having researched different alternatives, we’re happy we can say we finally found a suitable candidate. From today onwards, Discord will be the home of the Hash Rush community, because of two main reasons.
First, Discord has better security and moderation features. For instance, it allows us to create user roles, which we can use to weed out potential scammers. In addition, you can set a channel-wide stop on DMs, a tactic a lot of scammers use on Slack. In short, these (and other) features simply make Discord a better candidate for creating a crypto community than Slack (as other projects, such as Ubiq, have noticed as well).
Second, 45 million gamers across the globe use Discord, of which 9 million use it daily; every week 1.1 million users are added. So wanting to strengthen our ties with the gaming community, we felt Discord was simply a much better fit for our purpose.
Considering all of this, we’re closing the Hash Rush Slack channel to the public from 12:00 UTC on Thursday 21 September. Make sure to join us on Discord before that!
If any issues arise when trying to enter our Discord channel, don’t hesitate to send us an email (‘info at ….com’) or leave a comment below. We hope to see you soon.
