EPIC added a new feature to Fortnite earlier this year - a feature that allows you to gift other players items. Here's everything you need to know.
FORTNITE GIFTING SYSTEM DELAY
Quite a number of weeks back Fortnite added a gifting feature into the game, but, importantly, it wasn't made live in the game.
Then, a few weeks later, there was further proof of the gifting system going live in the games 4.5 update which gave some further clarity on how the feature would work and the various in-game messages users would see.
Fast forward a few more weeks and the gifting system in Fortnite STILL isn't live. And unfortunately, for the time being, there's no telling when it could go live in the game.
The only conclusion we can make, right now, is that in the pecking order of importance, gifting is pretty low on the list.
Epic Games dev team were/are probably concentrating on more important features such as Playground mode V2 (recently added back into the game) and the rollout for the Fortnite Android release, which was only officially announced last week.
We suspect that gifting could be finally introduced once the Android release has been fully launched, which could still be a couple of weeks.
FORTNITE GIFTING RELEASE IMMINENT?
Epic Games new Fortnite Gifting feature could be coming a lot sooner than previously thought, with new evidence in the games most recent update that suggests the developers are putting the wheels in motion to release the new feature very soon.
As touched on previously, the Fortnite Battle Royale gifting feature first appeared in the 4.5 update released some weeks back on 27th June 2018.
But as shown by the Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account (@FNBRLeaks) the new update contains various new strings of text which allude to the gifting system.
For instance, the text shown has various different messages that may accompany gifted items, such as “Hope you like this gift. Good luck; have fun!” and error messages like “We can’t find the item you’re looking to gift (we even checked the stockroom.)”
Some of the messages also hint that currency can be used to purchase gifts for other uses, with strings of text that read:
“Sorry, you do not have enough currency to gift these items.” There's also several instances of “V-bucks” appear which might suggest that the in-game currency will be used to purchase items for gifting purposes.
One of the lines also says “Optional message up to 100 characters" which suggest you might be able to leave customized messages when gifting.
Of course, all of this could change significantly before it goes live, but given that this is the first instance of files being added for the gifting feature since the initial reveals some weeks back, we could see this go live in the not too distant future.
Potentially, next Tuesday with the games next significant in-game update.
Original Story - As of update 4.5 in Fortnite, players have noticed that Fortnite Battle Royale has include the ability to gift fellow players skins and items.
This new mechanic isn't live in the game just yet, but thanks to players examining the data files that came along with update 4.5, we already know quite a lot about the pending in-game Battle Royale feature.
The new option, which can be found under ‘Account And Content’, will let Fortnite players turn on the ability to “receive gifts from others”.
Epic hasn't revealed quite what this will result in, but we're assuming it will let players gift their friends skins or other cosmetic items from the game.
We don't know whether Epic will allow players to transfer V-Bucks or emotes to other players, but usually, in games like this, currency is locked to accounts, so we'll have to wait and see.
After fans spotted the gifting in Fortnite feature, Epic Games confirmed that it is coming “in the future”, though the developer has not yet revealed a date the feature will drop.
In a Reddit post, Epic employee and Redditor MrPopo said: “Gifting will be coming in the future."
“We don't have an exact date to share, but we will inform you once we do.”
Thank you .
