If you interfere in any way to an officer during the beginning of the game, you can get punched in the face and if you do it again, they will shoot you.

He tells the story of how a community was thriving in the sewers but someone left a door open and the place swarmed with infected. More clues can be found so stay vigilant throughout the game.
