The prices of these Wii games will probably shock you.
Yes, the Wii. The console that came out of nowhere, caught everyone off guard, and found its way into homes of millions of traditionally non-gamers. The console was littered with shovelware and games that play it safe, but between the countless cupcake baking simulators and backyard game compilations there's a solid game library if you dig a little deeper. In the future, I'll do a Wii hidden gems list, but today we're discussing the most expensive and rarest games on Nintendo's little white box.
As always, the list excludes promo titles and bundles. Peripheral-free games only. Prices are for complete games, which include the game, case and manual.
#10 Deer Drive Legends
$52.00
Hunting games are really common on the Wii, so this is an easy one to overlook if you happen to find it.
#9 Data East Arcade Classics
$59.99
There were many arcade compilations on the Wii. The Data East one is by far the most valuable.
#8 Ivy The Kiwi
$60.00
This cute puzzle platformer is surprisingly pricey.
#7 Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition
$64.95
This was released in two variations. The collector's edition is the more expensive of the two and comes in a steelcase, compared to the regular DVD-style case of the normal release.
#6 Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
$66.75
Fire Emblem games seem to always get small releases and end up being highly sought after by collectors and Fire Emblem fans.
#5 My Horse & Me: Riding for Gold
$70.00
Yeah, its a girly horseriding game. I'm assuming it had low sales, so its rare.
#4 Fritz Chess
$79.99
Another niche title, this game likely received a limited release.
#3 Dokapon Kingdom
$111.50
No idea what Dokapon is, but its expensive.
#2 Maximum Racing: Super Truck Racer
$159.95
Another bargin-bin title that is most likely rare, therefore highly desirable by collectors.
#1 American Mensa Academy
$249.99
Easily missed during the 'brain trainer' craze that we went through about ten years ago, this unassuming title is by far the most expensive game on the Wii. If you see it, snatch it up!
The Wii has a massive library and was Nintendo's best selling console of all time, even handily outselling the NES and SNES. Many of the most expensive games look like budget titles that are easily overlooked, so if you know what you're looking for you might get lucky and score one of these titles.
Do you think the Wii will eventually be a desirable system to collect for? Let's discuss.

A lot of shovelware, but if you look at a lot of other consoles many of the most expensive games are ones that got really small production runs and they're expensive because of their rarity, not quality.

oh ok I see that makes sense I mean that's how any collection item is. the more rare the more value it has

Wii might be a desirable system, but as much as I want to play some of the games I can't stand the Wii mote. I was so happy when the WiiU was released with the gamepad instead. It's a million times better. x.X I have a classic controller, but every time I find a game I want it doesn't support it. Grr.
