Here is a full play through. I did it once!

Sonic the Hedgehog is a platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis console. The game was first released in North America in June 1991, and in PAL regions and Japan the following month.

Ah the memories! I remember the larger round buttons on those controllers provided such a superior game experience back then.

That was the very first game I tried on the Genesis when my uncle borrowed the console from his friend. I remember we once woke up super early and my brothers and I watched him finish the game in one sitting. Those were simpler times.

Yah I miss those times!

As do I. Now my uncle has moved on to the PS4 and his very powerful gaming rig while I'm struggling to keep up with my 2013-era gaming rig, PS3 and 3DS while rediscovering retro games I haven't played yet as a kid. I guess the current home consoles (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and Switch) are still too expensive for me while the retro ones have enough games to last me multiple lifetimes thus keeping me in the past like James Rolfe's Angry Video Game Nerd.
