A New World - Session 1

in gaming •  6 years ago

Doing a bit where I'm livestreaming me being the DM for a D&D game. Tonight's session was the first and....overall, I'm happy with what happened here. I was very nervous, but I think now I can move past that and be okay :)

If you want to support me as well as get access to things related to the game such as access to all the handouts and the chance to help create and name things in the world you can check out my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/Sigilmancy

For the first time I hear about such a game, is there a plot there?

Well D&D does have little campaigns you can run that are pre set up like Hoard of the Dragon Queen for the most recent 5th edition, but this is something custom. There is a plot, but it will be revealed over many hours as the group continues to navigate through the world and probably take quite a bit of time to unfold :)

I remember playing D&D a lot in high school. Brings back memories. Is there now computer support for it?

Yes there is! The website is called roll20 and it has full integration for not only D&D but other tabletop games like Pathfinder. On top of that while this video is 5e it has support for older versions of D&D too. Basically if it's any kind of tabletop roleplaying game roll20 has a setup for it :)

I have never been DM for a D&D game, but I should be playing again soon, with my mate in another state and his friends. Miss playing!

I did some 3.5 back in the day and it was the want to play again the led me to start doing it online. This is actually the 4th game I've been a DM for, it's interesting and different from being a player. Glad you'll get to be starting again soon, and I hope your campaign goes well!

I've always wanted to play dnd, but could never get the logistics down for the group and the actual board game. Maybe i'll gather some friends and use this website!

You can also browse for games to join on the website. Many people are often looking for players to join them, and there's a check box option for "only find games that welcome new players". As long as you can show up and engage with the party most DM's are more than happy to teach you the ropes too, plus there's plenty of online resources to help you get the hang of things if you need it ^^
