A super mario like never before a breath of fresh air. We have been waiting for this one for a while guys. Mario has been out of commission from a open world game for a very long time. Some say that Mario sunshine was the last open world mario game others say galaxy is open world but linear to a degree. I kind of agree with SMS being the last open world game. When did SMS come out? 2001 which is 16 years for nintendo to come up with another open world game. I haven't been quite hyped up for a platformer but I did get distracted by a hat in time! Which is another great game.

Super Mario Odyssey.

Graphics

Nintendo has stepped away from focusing hardcore on graphics but it still looks very pretty for a game. Everything is shiny and the whole world you can see clearly. The level design is close to super mario 64 and sunshine with a ton more things to do. Towards the end of this .gif you can clearly see some retro inspired gameplay is right behind the corner and that is something that is unique and surprising that they would put into the game.

Plot. / Random Lets play

Bowser has stolen princess peach again from the mushroom kingdom but this time he plans to marry peach. He also kidnaps the new protege cappy. Mario lands on a world of dead ships and he sees a ghostly top hat holding his torn up and destroyed head wearing thing. Mario chases him through the first level to show a mini tutorial. While you are doing this tutorial you can explore the world around you. Pretty interesting and spooky beginning level. Perfect for a little halloween fun. The first level allows you to go into a super huge top hat where you use cappy to transform into a frog and hop yourself up to the top of the level. At the end of the level you fight a mini boss or boss. This boss is part of a gang of bowsers minions named the broodals who take a guess........ Try to stop mario from going any further. Will Mario Defeat the first broodal. Will he stop the wedding of peach and bowser? Will he save cappies sister? Well this is up to you to choose if you want to. I wont stop you.

Music

The music is really well done. It is all orchestral and it gives you the feeling of exploration when you listen to it. You want to try explore the nooks and crannies in this game to get everything and the music gives the perfect boost for that.

Powerups-Collectables-Abilities.

Well with cappy the whole Super Mario Landscape changes. When you use cappy it allows you to take control of anything in the game really. Want to be a hammer bros be my guest. Or a bullet bill or even a dinosaur! I would like mario to control bosses as well but I doubt that will happen. This ability remixes up everything. It allows for more interesting and unique challenges to face. Now you do not just think about jumping from platform to platform but add enemy placement what the enemy can do and how do you go around to complete things in levels. Also hidden through out the level there are switches platforms zippers and different little things that you can use cappy for. For every new level that Mario enters cappy has new little cool things to do.

Moons

Moons are the main collectible in this game. It expands the levels that you are currently doing and unlocks newer levels as you progress through the game. Moons are scattered throughout the levels of the game. There is a ton of moons more than any star anyone had to get in previous mario games. Sometimes a moon can be gotten from talking to people other times you have to do some platforming that requires skill. I heard that there were upwards of 50-70 moons per level which is a extraordinary amount.....

Purple Coins

Something awfully fishy about this picture inside a picture does it not remind you of a past Mario Title?

Purple coins that you grab in levels unlock different wacky things from additions to transport, to additions in levels to clothing. Yes if you want you can play as Dr. Mario. There is a few secret costumes that I will not tell you about.

What Purple Coins buy for you

This is a homage to a ton of old school fans of the series and it brings this to a bunch of new audiences as well.

All in All I think this is a great addition to the super mario series. It shows a robust bunch of levels, new ways to platform, new challenges, innovation in gameplay design and I think it is showing the future of nintendo itself. It is a great way to get the newcomers and oldschoolers into the same game and I can respect nintendo for their ambitions. Good Job nintendo you do not ever cease to amaze after all these years. Thank you! This game will be remembered count on that.
