Are Video Games as bad as people make it out to be?

Video Games. Ah yes sitting down at a computer or T.V screen and playing for 6 hours without even realizing it. People would tell us "Video games will make you stupid.""It'll worsen your eyesight.""It'll influence you in a negative way." Being a big fan of video games and computer games, I felt bad hearing those comments. So, i thought how about if we think about them in a more, uh POSITIVE way? Well i did just that and researched beneficial things about them12.jpg

Rather then damage your eyesight, studies have shown that video games can actually improve your vision. How? Shooting games such as Call of Duty improved such gamers eyesight that they were able to discern subtle changes in the game. It also showed that video games could make you smarter by playing games such as Starcraft that require thinking and strategizing. Games like these showed that they improve ones brain flexibility and problem solving skills. Playing team related games improve communication, leadership and increase ones confidence in theirselves.

The most obvious reason? Why, they're a great stress and pain reliever!! These studies found that when people undergoing chemotherapy or other serious treatments were immersed in a virtual gaming world, they reported significantly less stress and fear. They can help with certain illnesses such as dyslexia or lazy eye. Fast paced games would help with reading and improve your overall reflexes, whether it be instinct or finger movements. Just because you see these health benefits, its not a reason to play 24/7 as then, it could turn into an addiction and then, it becomes a problem. So, the next time someone says video games are a waste of time and turn you dumb, make sure to show them an article proving them otherwise:).

Without having to read to studies, I knew that games always have the potential for making the player smarter or at least more knowledgeable... especially the rare games that don't assume players have gold fish attention span!!

Yep:)
