Imagine having the privilege to sit down with a developer of one of the most anticipated table top Role-Playing games since The Witcher 3’s release, and instead of asking questions about gameplay mechanics, graphics and story they kept throwing them garbage non-binary questions during the interview:
What a terrible fucking interview! Am I the only one that noticed that these games journalists have a weird compulsion to completely fucking embarrass themselves during these types of interviews? They could have asked questions actually relevant to the gameplay or story, but instead they kept on hammering on just a single aspect of the game I can now guarantee absolutely no one cares about who is looking forward to playing the game. This is embarrassing even for game journalist standards. A third of the interview is about gender identity in character creation, while interesting it only makes up a fraction of the entire game.
You know what I would have asked? What would progression be like in the game? How loyal are they going to be when it comes to the source material in terms of tone? What aspects of the Cyberpunk canon can we expect to see in the game? Is there any DLC planned for the game after its release? Instead, he peppers the developer with: “But DoooOOess it hassssss, the geeender fluuuids?” questions. I am fairly certain CD Projekt Red won’t compromise their game or vision by trying to cram in gender politics into their game.
But as long as the game is good I don’t care what genders you can choose to play as in the game. If there is one lesson that companies like CD Projekt RED need to learn from interviews like these is, that they should stop entertaining these journalists and that catering to those who are perpetually offended never pays off in the end. Catering to these people will eventually lead to your downfall. Marvel and Starwars is prove of this as they are flushing themselves down the toilet while bending over backwards for people who don’t even support and buy their products…
