I watched the EA press conference earlier today and I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually good. Last years conference was a train wreck filled with a ton of cringe worthy moments. This year it looked like EA was really trying to improve. throughout the conference EA poked fun of themselves by admitting that they had made mistakes in the past. I really liked this because It showed that they do care and want to improve, and thats good for all of us. So here is my recap of the event for you guys as well as my overall thought on each item.

Madden 18

The show started off with a drumline playing before they talked about madden. I am sure they took a queue from sonys conference last year by starting with some music. I am personally not a fan of sports games so for me I font really care about all the sports talk but I get why its in the show. All these games are big sellers for them. This years madden is going to have a story mode added in just like FIFA did last year. I think this is a cool addition and a natural step up.

Battlefield 1

now this is where it got fun for me. I recently got BF1 and it is so damn good. I would highly recommend it to any fan of shooters. They talked about upcoming DLC for BF1. I normally dont get DLC's for games unless its really worth it, but I will admit the DLC looked really cool. The New DLC is called "Name of the Tsar" and it adds in the Russian front. It will add in new operations, weapons, and 6 new maps. I would say check out the trailer just cause it looked so damn cool (no pun intended).

E-Sports

For this segment EA just showed off a montage about e sports. I did not mind this segment because it did not go on way to long and I like to see the support for the community from EA, but this was a low point for me during the show.

FIFA

for the FIFA segment they had these 2 guys called the men in blazers show up and announce the trailer. It was whatever with them. they were having a good time so it was fine. It seemed fun and that something that was apparent in the whole conference. this sort of relaxed fun attitude. I dont play FIFA games but ever since the introduction of story mode form the last one I have wanted to play them just for that. This year they had a great trailer and they reveals the story will continue.

Need for Speed Payback

For this segment they had some youtuber announce the trailer but he was pretty bad and it got really cringy. I felt bad for the guy cause I think he lost his train of thought and got flustered. he kept going and they showed the trailer which was actually pretty cool. their are 3 main characters and its a heist game so your going to be doing fast car chases and heists

A Way Out

This one was the biggest surprise for me and it was my favorite announcement. Its a game that you play co-op the entire way thru. the game is split screen at all times since you and the other person control these 2 guys that want to bust out of prison. CHECK this one out its really unique.

Anthem

next they revealed they have a new IP from bioware coming. I think for a lot of people this was the big news. they only showed a teaser and said that it would be revealed as the Microsoft conference.

NBA Live 18

Next they had the NBA game to show off and it looked like it is also getting some sort of story mode. They have a new mode where you can play professionally or on the streets.

Battlefront 2

Finally they ended the show with a full half hour of Battlefront 2 news and it was good! they really showed that they took everyone's feedback to improve the game. The new game looks so much better and I was not excited for this at all since 1 was such a let down. the game has classes, a new hero system, the story mode, and most importantly it has all 3 eras of star wars!! I cant wait to play as the clone troopers. After they talked about the game they had an entire match with commentary about the new systems. Check this one out its looks promising.

Closing Thoughts

The conference was good and a lot of fun. It was a major step in the right direction. for me it has some good high points and some funny low points. Good job to EA. This is night and day from last years. The only major disappointment I had was that their was no news about the upcoming new star wars story game. I am glad I was surprised and really got excited for the stuff that was talked about. So what was your guy's favorite announcement of the show?
