Blast From the Past - Part 6 - Timezone

☠️ Timezone ☠️

Growing up as a youngster one of my favorite places was Timezone.
Going there was just the ultimate fun for me, especially when it was for a four hour lock in.
I used to run around like a headless chook, trying to get as much enjoyment out of the trip as I could.

I remember when a kid would announce to the class that he is going to timezone for his birthday, nek minit he has 30 sumthin friends lol.

I had completely forgotten about all the good times I had at timezone till the other day. Then while I was reminissing on the past thinking about hte fun times I had growing up it popped back into my head.
So glad I started writing these blog posts as I'm remembering things I hadn't thought about in many many years.

Timezone always had a great range of games, some of them were just way ahead of the pack.
Take for instance Daytona when that first came out, I was still playing the old Sega master system and alex the kid and along comes Daytona.
It seemed like it had come from the future and I think every kid growing up wanted one at some point.

The Timezone we went to as kids had a good mix of new games and old classics.
One of the old classics I always loved was the plane game Raiden.
It was always an intense game, and I swear I have never mashed a shoot button as much as I did with Raiden. Sometimes you would be a fair way into the game and the old fingers would start hurting.

Time Crisis was another game which seemed way ahead of the others, it was quite tough so I usually only played it while I was in a lock in otherwise I would waste all my money on it and have to watch the animations border as.

It's a shame arcade gaming just doesn't seem the same any more, too many of those crummy machines you try and win tickets on.
Timezone was one of those childhood experiences I could never forget.
So sad that Timezone closed here in Adelaide, sure we now have intensity but it just aint the same :( RIP Timezone.
