The Biggest Problem With Mobile Gaming: ControlssteemCreated with Sketch.

Mobile gaming is here to stay. And it is a big market. The reason is almost everyone has a phone and most of us like games. Plus mobile games tend to be easier to pick up and play so it is more welcoming for the masses. There are some great games and as long as you utilize the touch screen properly you can have the experience of a proper game. But the game needs to be made for the touch screen. If it is something turned based or a puzzle game like Candy Crush, you can maximize what needs to be done with your finger. This is not the case for other genres.

Have you every tried to play a game where the controls pop up on the screen and you have to touch the screen to play the game. They do not work. You need a psychical controller to really get the experience right. This limits your gaming to those of touch controls only. That is why you see a lot of the similar games in the phone market.

If you are going to get passed this phones will be need to be designed with gaming in mind. There was a Sony phone that flipped up and had a controller for it, but I don't think it did that well. The other option is to have an accessory that plugs in. But the question is, is the market there? Gamers will get a DS or a laptop and a lot of games that do well on the phone do well because they are simple. Easy to lay on the bus on the way to work.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed a game that was not optimized for touch screen?
