Favorite games of all time

I am going to limit this to just the SNES because it would be far too complicated otherwise.

I have long since said that I am a Genesis guy and that was true for everyone for around 2 years. However, there is no denying that the SNES was a much better system than the Sega Genesis was. Look up the specs if you want. I'm not going to argue this point

Here are my favorite 3 SNES games in very specific order

The Secret of Mana

This game was different than anything that came before in that it was very similar to a lot of other games but was different in all the right ways. I am no longer a fan of Squaresoft but I was at the time and this game was and still is one of my favorite games ever made by anyone.

I had a look at the remake and realized very quickly that it was just a lazy cash grab on the part of Square. I sincerely think that Square is going to go out of business in the next 5 years or so because they are just falling apart at the seams and everything they make is an unfinished mess and a lot of the procuction team aren't even trying to make excuses anymore. They simply say "yeah, we know.... sorry" ... but there was a time when they made polished games like "Secret of Mana" and it was just amazing.

Zelda: A Link to the Past

Go ahead and get all scorched earth on me because i didn't make this the defacto number one. There are a lot of great games on the SNES ok and this one is one that I have in multiple other forms: Some legal, some not so much. It was such an amazing follow-up to what I consider to be one of the most groundbreaking games of all time (the original Zelda) that they had some really big boots to fill. Fill them they did.... and their cup overfloweth afterwards because this game was just outstanding in every way imagineable.

Super Metroid

I think this might be the best game ever made by anyone on any system ever. I don't mean this in that it looks better graphically, or something silly like that but given the technology available at the time, the amount of buttons on the gamepad and the fact that the first game already blew our heads off, this game was absolute perfection.

They could remake this game with minor twists to the storyline the way that Resident Evil has been re-releasing just about everything and tons and tons of people including and especially me would line up to buy them. I guess I have a bit of respect for Nintendo in that they haven't' done this yet.

Give em a few years. Money drives everything and while they got there own thing going on there that is very profitable for them as far as their systems are concerned it honestly wouldn't surprise me if the license the older games to other systems.

So what do you think of my top 3 SNES games? Do you agree? Do you want to punch me in the face for not listing Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy games? Tell me in the comments!

We used to play something called MAMI 32. It was like a huge collection of arcade games, but those good old arcade games. I really miss those days of going to the arcade with mates to play games.

arcades were the shit dude. I used to go to the malls for no other reason. They aren't fully dead yet, but there are very few left in existence.

Its sadly not the same. Or at least where I am it is not the same. Everything is new wannabe arcade games.

i went to a pinball museum in New York once and it was pretty amazing. There are a couple of arcades somewhere. I think there is a singular Aladdin's Castle out there somewhere and all they have is classic games that still operate on quarters. I went to a Dave and Busters recently and the "new age" arcade games don't impress me.

Sadly most of them are gone here. I ended up going to comic book warehouse and it had a few old pinball games but no longer functioning.

i knew a guy that was a pinball machine repairman. He later went on to become a full-fledged robotics engineer but i wonder if that sort of profession even exists anymore? Probably not.

I can't disagree because I didn't play any of them 😕 How close was Super Mario World to making your list?

I was on the fence with that one. I liked the new multiple paths to victory aspect of it but...well i don't actually know why that wasn't there... probably because of my tendency to go for sci-fi / fantasy games and was kind of mariod out at that point since they had been pushing it down our throats for years and years at that point

🤣 Was Dr. Mario the final straw?!
