I wrote an article about how I was not going to play Hades because I hate roguelike games because of their repition and I am a little ashamed to admit that I am now, I dunno, 30 hours deep into the game and can make it through the to the final boss with just about any weapon.
I still don't consider it a great game because at the end of the day it is the SAME FUCKING GAME over and over again but they did kind of do a few good things to keep you interested along the way.

fuck off with the game of the year bullshit... it seems like everything is game of the year by someone's standards
The game could be so much better if they incorporated the same mechanics into another type of game but me being a cynic I can completely understand why they would choose to not do so. By having it the way it is they don't need to have an open world, they don't need a real story, they don't need any puzzles, they actually don't need to have shit other than the ability for you to slowly power up your weapons so that you can eventually bash through the bosses that when you first encountered them seemed impossible.

Take "Meg" for example. The first time I encountered her she wiped the floor with me. I am pretty sure she did the same the next 3 times as well. These days now that I am 30 runs or so deep, I don't really even put much time into having an actual strategy when I face her. I just beat the living shit out of her every time I encounter her and since it is roguelike you MUST encounter her (or one of her "sisters") every playthrough.
Even though I swore it off at the start, I have to admit that they did a lot of things right with this game but this DOESN'T mean that I am reversing my opine on roguelikes. I am not a fan. I am just saying that this one is not as bad as I initially thought it was going to be.
I don't know if if it is frowned upon to post links to torrents on here but this one, if you use the magnet link will get you this game for free and it's virus free as well... if that sort of thing matters to you. I am one of those people that will often torrent a game first and if i like it, i buy it on Steam or whatever platform I happen to be using because I like supporting smaller dev studios and well, achievements are fun.... right? .

I disagree with all the people calling this "game of the year" and giving it 10 / 10 because I just can get on board the whole roguelike experience. I used to play games that were the same every time through and we called that time the 80's and a lot of it sucked.
I prefer more variety in my gameplay these days and I guess what I am trying to say is that I was a teensy bit wrong about this one and yeah, ok, it has some playability. I just wish I could find something else to play because I honestly don't want to play it anymore now that I have defeated the final boss once (there are only 4).
Have you played Hades? What did you think of it? Is it the game of the year and the best thing ever made or do you perhaps think that these shithole companies are simply trying to make a name for themselves by throwing around that title to an emerging studio?
I'm curious to hear your response.
Honest opinion, they just trying to make a quick buck. Most games that come out these days lack depth because that takes a lot more effort to create. It is simply easier and cheaper to just put out "quick" games.

i had a look at the game and it looked kind of fun. I don't really game a great deal so i suppose my opinion doesn't really count but doing the same levels over and over again wouldn't be fun for me either.
