Star Allies review - Spoiler Free

So I got this game about 2 or 3 days ago, and already seem to have beaten it, with a few exceptions. I will make sure to make this spoiler-free for those who have yet to play it.

As you have surely seen from trailers already, a new evil is falling down on Dream Land on Kirby's home, Pop Star. The game starts rather familiarly as many other Kirby games do, giving you a little tutorial as you first play it. This time around however, Kirby has a new power. Friend Hearts.

As anyone who knows Kirby can tell you, Kirby can suck up enemies and swallow them for their powers. Fire, Ice, Sword, Stone, Hammer, and so on. But now, hitting X will spawn a Friend Heart, which when thrown at an enemy, befriends them. In multiplayer sessions, players 2 3 and 4 will control these characters. We haven't seen them since Superstar Ultra in the form of Helpers, but now are simply called Friends.

New abilities make an appearance, one of which seems OP, and a couple old gems return as well. Anyone remember Water Kirby, or Beetle Kirby?

As you progress, you discover that this is not only affecting Dream Land, and set out to help everyone else you can.

Other game modes also include two mini-games and two very interesting new game modes. First is "Guest Star ????? Allies" which is reminiscent of Meta Knightmare Ultra, where it is a gauntlet of the game in a time trial state. Once you pick your power though, there is no changing it. The other mode is "The Ultimate Choice" which essentially replaces Arena and True Areana.

Albeit the game itself was rather short, there are collectibles to find and... well, collect. This time, instead of stickers or keychains, you got puzzle pieces. Each completed Puzzle shows a scene from Kirby's past, such as Crystal Shards and Squeak Squad. That put into account, I must say this game is really good overall, despite overall game length.

Final verdict: 8/10
Like I said, a little too short, but everything else seems to overshadow that.
