Hallo Steemians! How are all doing today?
Back again with me @zulman with another review of old games that was release for MS-DOS platform and before the year of 2000 Hence, the 90s video game.
The reason that I am reviewing these all old game is that I want to experience what the game is like. I do not play a lot of game when I was a kids. So, with this review, I want to know what are games that available in the 90s.

As usual, at the end of the article, I will give you all the information about how to play the video game that I am reviewing. Also, i will tell you how to install the game on your current PC or Mac or or if you do not wish the difficulties of installing the game, I will also give you information where you can play the game online. There are many website that provide so many old MS-DOS game.

This review going to be just information about the game, I will also provide some screenshots in order to see how the game is look like. Then, at the end of this article, I will also give you the information how to play this game on your current computer or where you can play this game if you want to play it online.

Alright, let's begin with the information about the video game development.

First of all, I would like to remind you that this video game that I am reviewing is not Rise of Triad that was release in 2013, but this is first game that was release in 1994. Rise of the Triad with the subtitle Dark War is a video game that belong to the genre of first-person shooter video game, this video game was developed and also published by Apogee software. This video game was released in the year of 1994 for Microsoft DOS platform. There are five different characters that the player of this video game can choose from. Each of this character will bring different unique attributes such as height, speed, and endurance.

This video game has a very interesting storyline. The storyline start when a special operation team that was known as the HUNT (High-risk United Nations Task-Force) sent to and island in San Nicolas. The team objective is to investigate a deadly cult activity that taking place in an ancient monastery. The only way of their escape is with their boat which has been destroyed by patrols. Later on, the HUNT team learn that the cult activities that happen on the island is to systematically destroy the place near Los Angeles. The operative now unavailable to return due the ship being destroyed. They need to eliminate the enemies and stop the cult activities.

In term of the game development, it is not so smooth. During its early stage of the game development. This video game was initially meant to be the sequel to Wolfenstein 3D with the title Wolfenstein 3D II: Rise of the Triad. The enemies are reference to the Nazi Germany. It's presence can be seen from the Walther PP pistol, MP 40 submachine gun, bazooka, and the outfits that soldiers worn.

Rise of the Triad - Dark War Gameplay.

Rise of the Triad has a very good gameplay. But, it is very similar to DOOM video game. It a typical early first-person shooter video game, There are also two game mode available which is Single Player and Multiplayer. In single player mode, the objective of the player is to stay alive, kill as many enemies as possible, and also the last objective is to collect keys. This keys is required in order to proceed through the next level of the game.

Special tactics and simple problem solving skills also required in order to reach the location that are seems unreachable. Most of the map in the game is linear. But, some maps are also design intentionally to avoid it. Some of this map have multiple exits in order to make the player need to think and plan the tactics in order to finish the level.

In this vide game, there are several characters that the player can choose from to play. Name of the character are:

• Taradino Cassatt
• Thi Barrett
• Lorelei Ni
• Ian Paul Freeley
• Doug Wendt

Each of the character above are unique to each other. For instance, Doug Wendt could not move as fast as another character. However, he has the capabilities to sustain a particularly large amount of damage. Lorelei Ni has disadvantages such as fewer hit points. But, he is a very quick character and accurate as well. Taradino Cassatt in other hand is the only character in the game that available in the shareware version of this game. This character is could be considered a weak one. He has average statistics such as average health, speed, and fair accuracy.

There are also numerous types enemies in this video game. Each type of these enemies has different strengths and capabilities. Certain enemies has the capabilities to perform a particular actions. These enemies sometime pretend to be a beggar and beg for their life. But, in reality, they are the enemies that will kill you. These type of enemies will give you enough damage. They also have the capabilities to fake their death. Some of the enemies will dodge the player attacks.

In the game, there are also four different boses that the player nee to destroy. These boss usually a tough one to beat just like the boss in anohter game. The player need to defeat the boss at the end of each episode. Those four bosses are General Darian, Sebastian Krist, NME, and El Oscuro. El Oscuro is the head of the cult that go by another name Triad.

My opinion about Rise of the Triad - Dark War video games.

This video game is a very fun game to play. The game play is very similar to DOOM, but still fun to play. The map in this game also have some puzzle in it, so it also require some thinking that made this game more fun to play. As the person that never play this game before and this is the first time to play this game, it is a very good game.
