Physics for the GAMSAT…why bother?

in gamsat •  3 years ago

Large numbers of the applicants we see here at GradReady enter their GAMSAT planning with a solid foundation in biology or chemistry. Similarly, many have done physics at the high school level, yet haven't really thought about it since, and consequently the GAMSAT with its physics questions represents an unwanted need to return to work that some felt they'd got away from when they left high school.

While we'd trust that couple of applicants would fall into the snare of keeping away from physics questions and accepting that their biology and chemistry score will 'get them through', here's a rundown of why putting some thought into physics might be worth it.

We've mentored GAMSAT understudies who've admitted that they kept away from physics since they thought that it is troublesome or weren't persuaded that it had an influence in their success. It was just when they didn't get the score they required that they 'do what needs to be done' and put some time into physics.

Some were unsure of their capacity to understand physics, while others were threatened by the possibility of doing physics questions without a calculator.

Anyway most come to understand that physics, similar to all the other things, simply takes some training to get the hang of.

The uplifting news with GAMSAT-style physics questions is that they frequently have a lot less preamble than their partners, so you don’t have to spend as long trying to understand the questions. This implies that having the option to do physics questions rapidly and precisely will both give you points and leave you more opportunity for different inquiries.

We've seen a few physics concepts and topics emerge more than others in the GAMSAT. For instance, nuclear questions are common in the test. By distinguishing topics which come up more regularly, you can better plan your studies.
