INHALTSANGABE:
Der persische König Xerxes verbannt seine Frau Vashti, weil sie sich entgegen Sitte und Brauch weigert, sich ihm unterzuordnen. Nun sucht der König in seinem Reich nach einer Frau, die Vashtis Stelle einnehmen soll. Er findet sie in der Waise Hadassah, die nach dem Tod der Eltern bei ihrem Onkel aufwuchs. Aber Hadassah ist Jüdin und sie hat Angst, bei Hofe diskriminiert zu werden. Sie nennt sich von nun an Esther. Im Palast erfährt sie, dass der Premierminister Haman plant, alle Juden im Reich zu töten. Mit Charme und ihrer neuen politischen Macht gelingt es Esther, den intriganten Plan aufzudecken und das Schlimmste zu verhindern...
