For being this early in the season, it was very busy this week. I started hardening off my fruiting perennials, seeded starter plants indoors for tomatoes and peppers, assembled a compost bin, mulched paths in the garden, and started digging holes for the trees I should receive in a couple weeks. Also, I pruned the raspberries and blueberries.
Single Cutting
Each cutting is 6-8″ long and planted in a 5″ container with potting soil. The buds below the soil surface were removed with a knife.
Tray of Cuttings Under Light
Here are blueberry, grape, and raspberry cuttings.
Tray of Cuttings after 8 weeks
The raspberry cuttings grew the quickest. Some of the blueberry, grapes, apple tree, and blackberry cuttings didn’t survive. Raspberry cutting were placed in the pots with a dead cutting. They quickly budded.
Seeds Planted
I seeded 3 types of peppers and 7 types of tomatoes. They are growing indoor on the grow shelf. They should be ready to transplant at the end of May when the last frost has pasted.

Compost Bins
Thanks Mark! I assembles two compost bins that I got from Mark. They are right next to the chicken coop. That will make it easy to compost all the chicken poo.
Hole for Tree
I have 36 nut trees on order to plant at my parents cabin. I have been clearing land up there and preparing to receive them. I dug the first hole, after a few hours it filled with water. I have been staging mulch, compost, top soil, and pine bark at the cabin in order to create mounds for the trees. The roots need to breath so they can’t be planted submerged in water.
