Repes (golden currant)

Repes or golden currant I planted a long time ago and a couple of years ago I had to just get rid of this bush.

Plus it can be noted only in beautiful flowering in the spring. The repos is really covered in gold during flowering. Of all currant species, the repes blossom very beautifully and its bright yellow flowers immediately take a glance.

The berries are large, black and shiny. The unripe fruits have a viscosity and are very acidic. Mature berries are delicious, with a peculiar aroma.

Only here for jam or compote, the repos is useless. Berries ripen gradually and there is no sense in walking and picking up a liter, or even less, from one bush.

If you wait until the whole bunch ripens, then the first berries begin to roam and attract insects. To a bush not to approach, because it is covered by bees, flies and ants.

Ants carry sour juice along the branches of the bush and after a few years they become covered with lichen. Such branches do not tolerate winter frosts and dry up. Constantly it is necessary to trim and rejuvenate the bush. In the end, even beauty does not work.

Repeats can be replicated by layering, rooting cuttings or dividing young shrubs. Transplantation of adult bushes is poorly tolerated. Cut down under the root of the bush, may not recover, as the shoots may not appear for years.

The golden currant can be planted like a decorative shrub, or just to treat yourself to berries. It can also serve as a supplement to some biogroup on the garden plot.
