Inside Shalimar Gardens

Shalimar Gardens in 1895
Development of the nurseries started on 12 June 1641, and required year and a half to complete.[2] During the Sikh time, a large part of the nursery's marble was plundered and used to enhance the Golden Temple and the Ram Bagh Palace in adjacent Amritsar,[9] while the nurseries' expensive agate entryway was stripped and sold by Lehna Singh Majithia.[10]

In 1806 the Maharaja requested the Shalimar Gardens to be repaired.[11]

The Gardens were nationalized in 1962 by General Ayub Khan[12] on the grounds that driving Arain Mian relatives had gone against his inconvenience of military regulation in Pakistan.[citation needed]

The yearly Mela Chiraghan celebration used to occur in the nurseries until General Ayub Khan precluded it in 1958.
The Shalimar Gardens (Urdu: شالامار باغ, romanized: Shālāmār Bāgh are a Mughal garden complex situated in Lahore, Pakistan. The nurseries date from the period when the Mughal Empire was at its creative and tasteful zenith,[1] and are presently one of Pakistan's most well known traveler objections.

The Shalimar Gardens were spread out as a Persian heaven garden expected to make a portrayal of a natural perfect world in which people coincide in ideal amicability with all components of nature.[2] Construction of the nurseries started in 1641 during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan,[2] and was finished in 1642.[3] In 1981 the Shalimar Gardens were recorded as an UNESCO World Heritage Site as they typify Mughal garden plan at the apogee of its development.[1
