So this one explains my avatar pic. Yes, that is a 4.61 lb. sweet potato from my last harvest I'm holding up next to my head. My garden is completely organic and no-till. I never use any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides and accept the occasional loss of a plant or tomato. When we moved into our home the garden had sat feral for a couple of years and it took me two seasons to build the soil back up.
Last May I planted 3 slips in my garden and completely neglected them all summer. I did not weed, water, or fertilize them at all. The vines spread down the garden row and provided an extra layer of mulch for my pepper plants.
FYI: The biggest one weighed 5.13 lbs. The one featured in the video thumbnail is the second biggest at 4.61 pounds. Guess I have a personal best record to beat next year.

Hi, that is amazing! I am Dutch and don't know what you mean by 'slips'. I love sweet potato and would love to grow them. I put three of them on organic soil, nothing happened but 2 started to rot. One made roots I think for it feels like stuck in the the soil/pot. You think it is? I have no idea how they grow is it like regular potato plants? Can you please aloborate a little to help me understand growing them? I would really appreciate it! 🙏

Hello
Thanks for the comment. Slips are pretty simple. When the sweet potatoes are allowed to grow out shoots you can break these off of the potato and root them. These are the slips that you want to have. Here's a link to a video that explains how to make your own.
