I ordered several different types of seeds last week and just received some of them. This order was from https://www.rareseeds.com. I was looking for a few unusual plants and ended up on their site. They have an impressive selection of plants and varieties. I was able to find most of the seeds I was looking for, plus some impulse buys. It was hard not buying a lot more seeds.
Mexican Sour Gherkin Cucumber AKA cucamelon
This plant produces grape sized cucumbers that look like miniature watermelons. They taste like cucumbers with a hint of lemon.
Red Malabar Spinach
Malabar spinach is a heat-loving vine which is commonly grown in Asia. It is grown for its leaves which have a mild spinach-like flavor. It thrives in the heat of summer, when other leafy greens have bolted. It is very sensitive to frost and some people say it can be invasive in areas that don’t get frost. The name is misleading as it is not a type of spinach.
Black Turtle Bean
This is a standard black bean. They claim this can do well even in cooler northern climate.
Ground Cherry
I had never heard of ground cherry and thought it looked interesting. It looks similar to a tomatillo - it is wrapped in a husk - but has a sweet-tart fruit inside. You grow them exactly like a tomato.
Early Purple Vienna Kohlrabi and Delicacy White Kohlrabi
Kohlrabi is a member of the cabbage family but isn’t grown for its leaves, although they are edible. It is grown for its bulbous stem which have a crisp texture and mild cabbage flavor. They can be eaten fresh or cooked.
Purslane
Considered to be a weed by many, purslane is very easy to grow. Its leaves have a lemony flavor and are packed with nutrition. They have high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin C, beta carotene and many others.
California Blackeye Pea
Free Seeds
They included two packets of seeds for free. I received the following.
Brunswick Cabbage
Cosmic Purple Carrot
I also am trying out the cucamelons this year! I can't wait to try them and to can some pickles out of them.

I didn't know about cucamelons until someone on steem suggested I grow them. I'm excited to try them.
