Snow Saga Continues...

in gardening •  7 years ago

When last we left off, the Ragtag Garden went from this on Thursday afternoon...

...to this by Friday afternoon.

Last night, we received another round.

The raised bed is only identifiable by the corner T-posts behind the cherry tree and off to the left.

Even the 'Jungle' looks tamed. @uncle-dan braved the drifts to clean off the satellite dish as evidenced by this faint trail. It had been totally covered before he knocked off the loose stuff.

My apologies for the simple, short post. I've been shoveling all day and I'm beat. My back is hollering at me and my arms are noodles. I think it's going to be an aspirin heavy evening and early bedtime tonight.

Where is the snow man? Can’t believe Tink made you shovel all of that snow so she could go out. Get some rest. Hope your arms retract back to their normal length. Wishing you a warm snuggly heating pad. 🐓🐓

LOL! I haven't built one of those in years!

Arms and back are better for the aspirin and I think I'm going to take a nap this afternoon. I'm done with visits today, so I can sneak in a little more recuperation. Oh, and toes are toasty as I type this. Thanks! ;~D

I wish I could come play in the ragtag garden in all that snow!!! You're getting snow I dream of getting. I'm probably one of the few who still love the stuff this much. Spring is just around the corner!

I would gladly send some your way! It's not really bad when it's stretched out over a couple of weeks, but a steady dump like this just is a bit much to keep ahead of.

I've been shoveling all day and I'm beat. My back is hollering at me and my arms are noodles.

I hear ya! I had to shovel both yesterday and Saturday, and yesterday was heavy.

Hope you're recovering! It's amazing how heavy snow can get, especially if it has a chance to sit a while and compact.

Thanks for asking, and yes I have. :)

It's only winter ;)

Winter has been snickering around the corner, and has made a comeback here, too. Nasty wind-chills tonight, and snow coming Tuesday night. Yep, it's still February!

Hope you are able to hunker down and keep cozy!

It's all ice here. The mud left from all the snow melts, and no wind or sun to dry it, has frozen slick. The chickens are slipping on it, flapping their wings and squawking as they make their way to from their yard, over the smashed fence (which is going to become priority or I'm going on strike) to my porch, where they deposite all of their poop lately. 😲

Yuck! Frozen mud might as well be concrete. I'm surprised the chickens are having so much trouble with it though. I'd have thought their talons could get somewhat of a grip. So sorry they've picked your porch as the bathroom zone. No wonder the fence is a priority.

Normally, I’d be suprized. But that mud was as smooth as glass, and it slopes a little. They just couldn’t get any traction. But, it’s back to mud now, so they’re gettin’ around just fine!

Oh yeah, it doesn't take much of a slope in the those conditions to get treacherous. Glad to hear it's thawed, tho the mud is not much of an improvement.

True story. :)

P.S. Your photo looks like a Nancy Drew mystery, "The Case of the Missing Blue Buckets." If it keeps snowing, we'll see the sequel, "The Case of the MIssing Firepit."

LOL! Yeah, it does have that feel. Especially the darker second image - menacing don'tcha know! Maybe I should tie line from the firepit to the lamppost...

Yuck! We have had a few dumps of snow like that too which has kept me house bound a few days. Once the weather warms up, I may take advantage of the snow and the sled we got for Christmas and take my babies for a walk. They've started sitting up and gaining more balance so it should be an interesting experience to say the least! I am wishing your back and arms a speedy recovery.

Ps. Your images load rather slowly for me and my country internet. If you're able, you may want to consider down sizing the files to 250-300Kb. That's about the size we upload and they're still clear and load quickly. ☺️

Awww, that would be fun with the kids! Great memories for future stories...

Thanks for the well wishes and for the tip on the pictures. Never even crossed my mind. I'll see what I can do to fix it.

Beautiful

We have been having on and off snow lately too. Just when ours melted off, then we got freezing rain last night. Slick sidewalks and roads. Not fun!

Aaaack! Freezing rain is the worst! I'd rather deal with this stuff than ice of any kind. Nasty stuff! Hope you get to stay put til it melts again.

Garden hard! Following you!

No kidding! Am so antsy to get started on the season, but this stuff is not helping. LOL!

Yeah but helps with moisture!

Must be tired great post tnx for sharing

Spent. Thanks!
