A small landscape makeover in Brisbane, Australia.

in gardening •  5 years ago

Afternoon Steemers,
Recently in Brisbane we installed a quick makeover of a exsising domestic backyard.

The perimeters were boxed off, with raised beds and low profile timber framing and a bit of shape was added in the form of a pathway.

Lots of digging was involved to get all the posts in and inline with Australian Standards.

Raised garden beds were built on both sides of the yard.

And of course planted out with a mix of Citrus, Magnolias and some "potted colour" to give a bit of instant brightness.

Last as always was the turf and literally just as we finished it poored down with rain so hard we had to return the next day to repair damages.

So much more was involved like installing an automated irrigation system, multiple soil amendments and a range of different fertilisers but they are generally not phone in hand jobs cause there is water and mud everywhere!
I'll pop round to see how the garden has held up in a month or two and post some pics!

Thanks for the stopping by and happy gardening,
Sam.

A big improvement! Do plants actually make it in box gardens in Aus climate? I considered doing this but then decided that the boxes would probably dry out too quickly

Yeah with irrigation it will work but you are 100% right about the drying out....

Thanks! I have eelworm but ultimately decided to go the heavy composting route and stay with my soil. It seems to be working

Good choice imo

Just add mulch and you are set.

Very nice and creative landscape work, I love it :)
