Seed Catalogs!

in gardening •  7 years ago

I'm just curious where everyone buys their seeds?

For the last couple of years we have bought ours from Seeds of Change, but this year I think we're going to mostly go with Baker Creek!

Regardless, this is such a fun time of the year, I love looking at seed catalogs!

I order from Baker Creek because I live just about an hour and a half from their Missouri site. :) I've always had great success with their seeds. You get quite a bang for your buck, and they're heirloom quality! Delicious!

That's awesome! Yeah I'm super excited to get my order placed, so many interesting varieties to try!

I order mine from MI Gardener, Annie's Heirloom and the Ohio Seed co mainly.
Although if they don't have what I need/want, I will search other seed companies.

I know a LOT of gardeners and homesteaders on steemit use Bakers and LOVE them!

Never heard of the Ohio seed co... and I live in Ohio! Will definitely have to check them out :)

i've been getting stuff from seeds now over the last couple of years. they have a good selection of organic & they have "sampler packs" for a buck, if you don't want to commit to 200+ seeds of something new.

Never heard of them, will have to check it out, thanks for sharing!

I try to buy seeds from companies in my geographic area, the NE USA. Two of my favorites are Fedco and Reimers.

I am in Canada so I order locally to match our climate/zone but do order seeds from Strictly Medicinal Seeds from the States. They are great!!

I do buy from Baker Creek and am always happy with the quality, also from groworganic.com they’re in California, they’re seeds and fruit trees are great quality as well!!

Ohhh, groworganic!!! Another good one I hear about all the time.

MI gardener would be a very good source ,they make cool youtube videos but i personnaly never ordered from them.I started gardening not long ago and i saved my own tomatoe, lettuce, herbs seeds etc. This year i sent an envelope to Ray from the youtube gardening channel Praxxus55712 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6YgvyGnc7HBvBEVAeDnsiw he does a seeds giveaway every year.I also got a catalogue from https://www.seedsavers.org/ I havent ordered yet but they got plenty of variety.

I like Mi Gardener because they are local- I'm in Michigan and I like to try and keeps things local. BUt I do go off to other sites as well.

That's awesome! I want to start saving seeds as well, once I find some good stock to go with!

I ordered my seeds from 2 Canadian seed companies this year .. Mumm's Sprouting seeds http://sprouting.com and William Dam Seeds http://www.damseeds.ca .. I was going to put an order with a USA company, Johnny's Select Seeds http://www.johnnyseeds.com , but i decided to keep it local..

I am up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and I buy most of my seeds from Apache Seeds. I also harvest and dry seeds from the past summers where I had successful plants, mostly peppers
