Garden Harvest - Carrots and Onions! #gardenharvest

in gardening •  8 years ago

Along with some great looking onions this year came some nice carrots! This is the second year in a row that I had a nice harvest of carrots. The soil life and quality in my garden is really improving. I believe that makes all the difference in the world for a crop like carrots. The soil needs to be soft and full of organic matter, but not too rich! If there is too much nitrogen in the soil then the greens get really full but the root crop is really small. #gardenharvest

Beautiful root crops. So jealous. Maybe next year when the "Back to Eden" bed is more established.

Yumm!!! ^_^

That looks great!!

I agree with your comment on nitrogen when it comes to root crops and especially lima beans. But heavy nitrogen is good when growing cole crops like cabbage and broccoli. Your ahead of me down in Texas. I have at least 2 more weeks to go before harvesting carrots.

Correct. There are many veggies that love the nitrogen! I would love to see your harvest. Perhaps you can post pictures and use #gardenharvest :)

I will post pictures as things come in this year. Here's a teaser from previous years:
