The Natural Gardener - Austin, Texas (A Beautiful Nursery To Visit)

in gardening •  7 years ago

Today, Luke and I, along with his mom @findingjoy had to spend time in Austin, TX for a doctor's appointment. This appointment has been greatly anticipated since the doctor does not use any pharmaceuticals. The treatment is based on a genetic study, then uses all natural supplements to correct the problems. I don't know enough about this yet since I just learned about it all today, so more on that later.

However, on the way home we decided to check out The Natural Gardener Nursery in Austin, TX. It truly is a beautiful place to hang out, sit, walk, smell the flowers... It's not a big nursery, but it's easy to get lost in there :)

Here's Luke, Mamakirbs ( @findingjoy ) and I posing for a selfie!!

They had so many beautiful pots and pieces of art to chose from, and these were on sale!

The wind chimes were not only beautiful to look at, but also so wonderful to listen to. They had some that were very big hanging out in the gardens. I didn't get pictures of those.

I was mesmerized by the intricate network of drain pipes and cisterns to create their very large, gravity fed watering catchment system. Here's one tank on the corner of one of the buildings. It looked cool as a backdrop to these Texas Bluebonnet flowers!

The selection of potted flowers was stunning and mind boggling! They had everything that a Texas Gardener could ever dream of. I wish money was no object for me LOL I would have filled my pickup bed to the rim!

Here, I think Mamakirbs was trying to convince Luke that these flowers looked and smelled wonderful. Perhaps she was trying to get him to agree that she needed to buy these for the farm. He must have agreed because they did, in fact, come home with us :)

Well, even tho we do get tired of going to the doctor's appointments it's nice to get out in the sun to see some great places like this.

Have you ever visited this nursery?

What an awesome end to a trip!

It is a beautiful nursery visited by a beautiful family. Be careful in Austin. I hear there is a serial bomber there. He has struck 4 times. We send our love from California.

I had not heard that. Wow.

Yes...I heard the lastest bomb destined for an Austin address blew up at the Fed Ex depot. I think as long as you avoid delivery trucks all is well there

Actually he is using tripwire bombs now. I urge caution. We will pray he is caught soon.

The latest one blew up in a Fed Ex distribution center in Schertz today.

That’s near San Antonio?

There's scary shit everywhere. Austin is a beautiful place, not worth avoiding out of fear. <3

I would never tell a person to avoid a place but I would urge caution. Austin has a serial bomber on the loose. He is using tripwire bombs. I just want people to be safe, especially my own family.

We love the Natural Gardener! Did you guys find the giant walking labyrinth on the garden's grounds? It took us several visits to really see the whole thing.

We go there semi-often and sit on the swings, pick a few grapes, figs or tomatos if they're abundant and ripe, buy handmade popsicles and have a lovely, calm afternoon.

Just maybe avoid the place on Saturdays unless you like crowds and lousy parking! :)

Yes the parking is terrible LOL. We've only been there twice now and have not found the labyrinth yet. Perhaps I need to visit again :) In 2 months we see that doctor again so I'll make sure there is time to swing by the nursery.

I'm all for herbal remedies if well researched. I tend to reach for those 1st for patients, especially with chronic problems. Have you tried acupuncture with Luke? Not sure if he'd tolerate it but it in particular could help with his hands and sleep

Stuff like this makes it super tempting to live in Texas from March through May. But that's not a sustainable plan with dogs and cats and I think gardening in early April.

@daddykirbs although I lived in Austin for 26 years I don't think I ever visited that nursery. Will check them out next time I'm up there. Thanks
