New Hampshire SUMMER 2016: Rinse and Repeat!steemCreated with Sketch.

If you live in Zone 6 of the Northeast USA, you'll know that the gardeners and the lawn people have yet to start on all the spring chores. Last year at this time my associates and I had worked in our clients' gardens and our own yards and gardens EVERY day in March. But no such luck this year. 2017 dumped a freak ton of snow over a week ago and it is still here. Warmer temps and some rain coming should help...cross fingers!

In the meantime, and for your enjoyment (and mine!), I thought I'd repost a post from last August of a garden trip I took to New Hampshire last July. ENJOY!.....

July 2016

I was so fortunate to be able to spend time in northern New Hampshire with some very good, long-time friends. We are all garden enthusiasts and garden professionals at different levels, but I believe anyone and everyone would appreciate and surrender to the beauty of these spaces. Here is just a hint of my time away:

This vista is from a beautiful home in NH looking over to the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Enjoy another view at my friend's home from this irresistable bench

A touch of purple - looking out through the screendoor of her house

Next: Would you like to live here? (I would!)

You'll have this incredible view!

Over a period of 20-25 years, the owners built and re-built all the walls on this property(above pic and below)

And they swim in this beautiful pond that they built! (Can you see even more walls in the way back!?)

Next up...Is this a field with a small house OR a rooftop garden with the second story sticking up? (HInt: it's the latter!)

Here's proof! (You can see the bit of roof on left hand side of photo)

This is part of the patio of the rooftop house. So, not only was it a cool house, it has this incredible view of Killington, VT!

Next up on our adventure...We walked through this gate with a Larch tree trained to grow over it. Does anyone else see an elephant?

And this crazy creature archway, naturally formed after a branch fell down from the tree on the right. That's the Connecticut River in the background thru the trees.

Incredible host met us out under her River Birch grove with gin and tonics and a bowlful of cherries presented in a silver bowl!

I was drunk and in love with these incredible outdoor living rooms. But don't overlook even the smallest of backyards or balconies. Turn your outside space into your living room. Now breathe in. Exhale. Ahhhhhh.

OR, just run away and check in to the nearest farm!

thanks gardening trail!!

We had some freak snow too but it looks like spring is officially getting started this weekend with a mini 'heat' wave!

That's a grand estate, for sure, with those views, broad expanses, and well-tended lawns! I like that bench design, with the wheel and handle built in -- it would be so easy to move from place to place, to the perfect spot, or out of the way of the mowing. What great stone walls, too. I guess Vermont has plenty of rocks, lol - but they sure laid the rock well! At least with the snow and cold, it might make troublesome insects less of a problem this summer! Hope you get back to business soon! Spring is slow here, too, in the Pacific Northwest, but I will never turn down extra rain.

thanks for reading and commenting haphazard!
(and I'm following you now :-)

Having such a wonderful yard is a lot of work and work, I know this, because we also have a big yard and a garden.

Amazing property with amazing views... NH, my home state. This is the area I wish I had grown up in. Beautiful pics, @gardenlady
