I got my first harvest of the year, It was my first earlies that I started chitting way back in January.
(Caterpillar)
You never know what you're going to dig up when it comes to potatoes.
I got my fork and started lifting the soil and I was not disappointed with the results, nothing beats the taste of new potatoes from the plot.
All I had in mind for them was potato salad. I'm looking forward to having more of them over the next few weeks. I still have my red dukes to try as well next week.
My time this week down on the plot has been little and often, the weather has been nice all week with just a few rain showers, after I had finished watering. I got some weeding done that is never-ending and planted some squash.
As I was setting up the hose this week I came across some caterpillars, they only seem to be eating the nettles. I will be keeping an eye on them over the next few weeks to see what happens.
My gooseberries are ready to be picked, so I will be making something with them, so keep your eyes peeled for a recipe soon.
I was down there on Wednesday night watering and I could not resist, I had to have a strawberry, been thinking about them all week. They tasted so good I don't think they will last much longer.
From plot to pot!
