I just buy them from the store like most people do and never really knew how they look like while still on the tree or how they form and grow.
I love observing the growing process especially since it is like watching a gorgeous flower which opens up its red flower petal and underneath you see bunch of beautiful flowers which turn into bananas and every day the petals keep on falling down and new bunch of bananas is being born.
Love @joalvarez

Thank you my lovely friend.
I know, that is how I was too. Never seen the growth process of bananas and that is why I like sharing about it, since most people from the tropical countries seen it and it's a normal thing for them, but for us from the colder countries we have never really seen how the bananas are grown.

I do know what they are!
Each banana has those individuals flowers at the tip of the banana fruits. As the bunch matures, these will wither and dry. A good way to know when to cut the whole bunch is when all of the little tip flowers dry up and fall off to the touch.
Also... I may be too early to tell, but are you sure these are bananas? They look a bit like plantains or a hybrid.

Thanks for the tip.
Yes, these are bananas and we had enjoyed them for a while now. We have so many different kinds of bananas here in El Salvador, and these are pretty small but chubby bananas and very, very sweet. One of our favorites.

Thank you for clarifying and that makes total sense. I know exactly which variety you are talking about. They are small and sweet, and small bunches. Around here they are called "minimos."
