Autumn has arrived on my garden, no more Roses :(

Looks like Autumn has arrived here, the weather forecaster says we are going to get a heatwave this weekend then in there next post we are going too get some bad weather from the hurricanes. I hope not.

I have spent this afternoon sorting more pots out, not happy all my Roses have died off, they were better last year I must try harder next year I have been de-heading and cutting them back.

My poor Roses look so sad now.

Here Is a picture of last years Roses, they look a lot better than this years BUT I did get more Roses this year.

Will do more research about these as think I have them potted wrong as they hang over the pot instead of growing upwards.

All photos are mine take with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Mobile Phone.

They are beautiful Karen.
Maybe you have a climbing variety instead of a bush variety of rose? Last year the plant was half the size and the stems seem to be quite thin which could be why it's hanging over. It may just require some trellising to hang on to.

Roses also love banana peels by the way. I cut the banana peels up into strips with scissors and then scatter them around the base of the bush.

I can do that we eat bananas, I am going to buy a trellis and going to re - pot it for next year. Hope it works as that would look lovely next to the door. Thank you for your help :)

You're welcome 🙂. Here is a link to the South African legendary rose master Ludwig Taschner's tips on climbing roses. The pruning time would be reversed as it is written for the Southern Hemisphere. http://www.ludwigsroses.co.za/landscaping-concepts/climbing-roses/

Thank you, I will have a read of this, Does it matter that I am in the UK?

The only place it would make a difference is where he says to trim it mid July-August which is the end of our winter season, so you would adjust it to be the equivalent season in the UK.

"How to do it:

Plant a climber on either side of an arch or arbour. A single plant will not grow up, over and down the other side. Twine and tie the stems around the structure as the plant grows. The more horizontal the stems, the more flowers will be produced. Neaten climbers in July – August."

Ok, I'll do that. Thank you. Ill be back for more advice :)

I'll help where I can😊

Great, I will need it :)

Friend you need a larger pot and a trellis. These are climbing roses. Beautiful even as they lean🎀

That's what I have planned, when's the best time to re-pot her? :)

In spring friend, or once it gets too cold you may even look into bare root storing her in sawdust. Look it up as I never have had to do this but I know some people that do.

Oh right. I am so far behind I haven't a clue Thank you sweety :)

Yea, I do see that last year's roses are 'looking better' - that shade of Pink is kinda neat.

And cutting them back is important. I know I have to do that with the bushes in my yard, and the trees too. (my dad was a hybrid #Rose breeder - I thought he was cool, for he had some neat varieties ! ) ♥

As to #Roses, I once lived close to 3 acres of roses - all colors + varieties. Oh, it was so-o-o cool - to be ABLE to get #exercise and see #nature at the same time. It had a gazebo and a couple of fountains !
CAN U See it?

Looks amazing, thank you :)
