Scents in the garden

in gardening •  7 years ago

Walking into a garden that is full of fragrance is something we all enjoy and there are so many plants that can help us achieve this,

Roses are in the front line, especially the old fashioned roses that give off a heady perfume.
Sweet alyssum is another wonderful scented annual.
Then of course we have many herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, lemon verbena and mints that as we brush past them leave their fragrance on our clothes.
Lovely penny royal planted in between stepping stones releases its wonderful minty scent on our shoes when trodden on.
Some plants release perfume at night such as the night scented stock.
An all time favourite is the shrub brunfelsia commonly known as the "yesterday, today and tomorrow" plant.
