I was excited for this event, and it was amazing and a blessing to attend. Honestly, I was rather impressed, and learned quite a bit.

WHAT A GREAT TIME!

With a good variety of speakers, vendors, and attendees, the "Heart of the Ozarks Heritage Gardening Conference and Seed Exchange was excellent. Considering that this was the "first annual" one, I think they are off to a great start. To be able to learn from a number of local gardeners and homesteaders is always a worthwhile experience, and meeting with other "locals" is always fun too. Moreover, I finally got to meet Kip from the 1000s of Roots" YouTube Channel, who I've been hearing quite a bit about lately.

With cobb oven pizza being made on site, it was not only educational, but also delicious. I know the guy who made this oven, so we spent a while talking about various things pertaining to building one. I plan on making an outdoor kitchen eventually, and I think that building one of these would be fun and practical.

Always willing to help and also to learn, a couple of the older Little-Peppers got involved in the process and helped out where they could. Here "Red-Pepper" rolls out some dough. They simply waited for a new order to come in and made whatever pizza they needed next.

Since it was a little cool outside helping out by the oven was a great way to keep warm as well. Moreover, these pizzas were super tasty and we really enjoyed eating a few. Since the event was free, it made it easier to spend a bit on lunch and snacks, which we really enjoyed.

A representative from the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed company also came, which was really cool. They are my absolutey favorite seed source, and my mind is blown by the variety of seeds that they offer. Although I've already purchased tons of seeds from them, there are so many more that they have available, and one of the top seeds on my "wish list" was on the table, so I was happy to be able to secure some Mizuna seeds to grow this year.

A number of interesting displays were also on site to check out. The tallest thing in the photo above is a double-walled insulated cold frame, which a friend of mine built. He used them many years ago further north and is eager to eperiment with them here in the Ozarks. Perhaps I'll do a video showing them off eventually, since I think it's worthwhile to consider. After all that was presented and discussed, I'm really hoping that this does become a yearly conference.
