My Garden Shire Update April 27, 2018

in gardening •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm making great progress converting the rest of my backyard into a garden thanks to the help of my best friend Jim. Structurally, all we have to do is set the last of the 6 new raised beds down on a stone foundation, and we are going to do that tomorrow!

Chard, lettuce, collards, cauliflower and cabbage seedlings in the ground.

I made my first hoop tunnel, which is covering the cabbage and cauliflower.

I transplanted a rhubarb plant from the fence near the alley into its own section of a raised bed and it is going to thrive there. I mentioned that I got the rhubarb plant from an old homestead site at the Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail

We had tried to squeeze in a little strawberry patch into the old garden space and they were not in a good location. Now I have them spread across 1/2 of a raised bed and they are doing great. Can't wait to make some strawberry rhubarb pie.

Here is a timeline of My Garden Shire Project.

It's looking great Paul! Every seed you plant is a middle finger to the power-that-shouldn't-be.

Thanks Chris. And, I'm using my middle finger to help plant seeds too!

Hey there! My name is M3, and I'm giving you an pvote, and a subscribe! A bunch of us are sort of from YouTube, but got really sick of it, and are trying to really promote DTube. There's getting to be a decent little community on here, and I just thought I'd help you out a bit. If you like music-themed, somewhat funny things, that's what I do. Cheers ``

Thanks M3. Visited your blog and tried to play some of the videos on DTube. They would not play, just spinning wheel. Will try again later.

Nice use of space with the raised beds. Be interested to see updates when it all blooms.

Thanks for your interest! Jim and I finished setting the last raised bed box in place yesterday and I began filling it today.
