She is mulching, mulching, mulching! Let's look to her for inspiration in our gardens for building great soil.
She places leaves around the base of trees so that there is ongoing habitat building for insects and micro organisms. The trees recycle their nutrients back into the soil around their feeder roots.
Everyone is mulching! Trees, shrubs and plants all drop leaves. Then they help collect the leaves and hold them in place on windy days and helping prevent them from sliding downhill if they are on a hillside.
Even evergreen shrubs and trees helping mulch by collecting on trees leaves and preventing them from flying away.
Mulch collects in basins, between chunks of wood, rocks and stumps. Mother nature peppers her landscape with texture and each variation is a chance for mulch to collect.
Mulch comes in all shapes and sizes from leaves and twigs to big giant trees!
Here is a stump that has a perfect mulch pocket. Apparently it is a perfect environment for growing a new shrub!
Great photos of Mother Nature’s gardening lessons.
Thank you for noticing and then reminding us of the wisdom available if we just stop and observe the world around us.

Seriously, I'm going to show this post to my kids in the morning, because you've done such a nice job of illustrating the beauty and genius in nature. Thanks!

Beautiful photos, you should add a photography tag if you post more. It would be wonderful to share them with that group as well. I especially love the shrub coming out of the stump. We had a tree split in two and grow around a license plate. It was halfway embedded before we found it.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did update this post with the photography tag. Thanks for appreciating these photos :) Wow! Incredible story about the tree growing around a license plate! I love seeing trees doing these incredible feats of strength and contortions.

One of the things I love seeing is nature taking over abandoned man made things...
It will grow where ever it can for sure!

Beautiful! Careful with this envisioning stuff... especially if you have a habit of controlling your reality, unless it is what you want of course.
I would like to see that!

That last photo is absolutely beautiful. It's something my husband and I would do if we found a stump like that close to our home. Perfect, just perfect. Live and grow beautifully little shrub!

I love looking at how intelligent life is just getting on with it. Im growing some salads and leafy greens in pots but I removed the old leaves because they seem to attract unwanted pest, the old leaves get put in a small compost bin (because I'm only making a small balcony grow) I'm hoping that it will condition the soil like it does in nature.

That's what we do with cut offs or leaves thatvfall off our plants at home. We just bury them in their own pots!

That is a great way to recycle nutrients back into the soil and speed up the decomposition process. Nice going @celestialcow!

Very pretty. I like that trees and shrubs close the nutrient cycles!
