A couple of weeks after the application of NPK 20-20-20 fertilizer, here is a before and after comparison of the batch of okra parked in out garage ☺.

The plants are now having difficulty supporting the growth of the leaves so I am having to steak the okras. I used some of the pvc pipes I used to steak an earlier batch of tomatoes.

I don't normally steak okras, and plan on removing them as soon as the plants are able to support the growth of its leaves. I will also add some potting soil mix to get roots to develop at the base of the plant.

I've also just recently found time to clean our yard to prepare for planting a batch of eggplant and tomatoes. It took an entire weekend to complete the work.

It will take another weekend to pull all the grass, clean the accumulated trash, till the soil and plat the eggplants and tomatoes. I am only able to give this time during the weekend when I work from home for only a few hours. I otherwise spend nearly 12 hours a day at work.

Harvesting Seeds

I planted a batch of okra just for harvesting seed. We have an event with @steemph where @flabbergast-art will teach the Dumagat tribe music and visual art, and I will teach them how to grow vegetables. I will bring some seeds, and also tell them about harvesting seeds. We want to be able to not only help them get introduced to art, but also help them to be self-sufficient through growing their own food.

I did not take any okra from this batch. I just allowed all the fruits to mature for the purpose of collecting seeds. When the okras turn brown it is ready for harvesting seeds.

I used a pair of scissors to cut the fruit open and collected the seeds.

From collecting seeds from just one okra, I will be able to grow more than 30 new okra plants.

Nice sir! Trying to break away from the corporate world?

Pang retirement na yan ah.

Yes sir hehehe. Just drafting plans, and timing our move. I thought we might as well learn while waiting. It is a lifelong dream actually, and am very excited to make it a reality soon, but at the same time manage it in such a way that the risk and exposure for my family's future is kept to a minimal.
