Garden Tips - Deutzia Magicien' Flowering Shrub for Pollinators

in gardening •  7 years ago  (edited)

When you are looking around the local garden centers for your landscaping needs, keep this flowering shrub in mind. It has a dense, upright and cascading growth habit, is a rather globe-like effect, and is easily trimmed to control it's growth in spring after flowering. A fairly rapid growing shrub to an average of 5' in diameter, so you will want to give it some room for future growth.

The branches are covered mid-spring to early summer with beautiful white star-shaped flowers blushed with pink throughout. This is an ideal shrub to attract those early arriving pollinators to your gardens.

It loves full sun - part shade and average, well drained soil to keep it very happy. It is also considered insect and deer resistant, which in my case is a good thing as I have 5 deer that love to nibble in my gardens. ;-)

Never heard about them but looks beautiful

I love this shrub, it is in full bloom right now in my garden here in NY

Beautiful!

Thank you mila7272

The pink deutzia is lovely! (the white one, on the other hand, not nearly so.)

I wish we had those here. I bet the bees would just love them!

Want me to bring you some? ;-)

If the bees love it, it's such a wonderful shrub to have in your garden, isn't it? Aside from being REALLY beautiful. 💗🌸💗
