Jacobinia, or justicia, belongs to the acanthus family. Some types grow indoors, others in greenhouses. Still others thrive in tropical forests. This plant is a shrub or subshrub that stays green. Indoors, it stays compact at 50-150 cm tall. It fits well in any space.

Its flexible stems hold round, dark green leaves. The leaves look wrinkled from their large veins. The plant's white, pink, orange, or red flowers form clusters. As the plant ages, the stems turn woody.

Jacobinia flowers can last almost two weeks on the plant.
